This posting is for a career as a Correctional Officer I at Salem Correctional Center and Jail in Industrial (Salem), WV located in Harrison/Doddridge counties. The current special hiring rate for a Correctional Officer I is $40,000/year with the following salary increases to be expected:

• Salary increase after 6 months to $42,500
• Salary increase after 1 year to $45,000, $2,000 Retention Incentive at 1 year
• Salary increase after 18 months to$46,500
• After 2 years of employment (1 as a COI 1 as a COII, with no lapses in service), you are eligible to reallocate into a Correctional Officer III position with a salary increase to $48,000

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision, a Correctional Officer I performs beginning level Correctional Officer work. The employee is responsible for enforcing rules, regulations and State Law necessary for the control and management of offenders and the maintenance of public safety. The probationary period is twelve months. Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• Valid Driver's License
• Must be able to pass a Drug Test, Background Check, Pre-Employment Physical and Physical Agility Test
