Collects data and analyzes all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate. Being a Cost Estimation Engineer identifies and quantifies potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs. Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes. Additionally, Cost Estimation Engineer coordinates with project management, engineering, procurement and other project stakeholders. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Publish reports, understand the reports you publish and be able to answer questions
o Monthly
o Quarterly
o Various degrees of complexity and preparation requirements
o Good understanding of Excel and functions such as vlookups, pivot tables, and charts
· Analyze price change requests
o Support the price and material adjustment process
o Validate parts are correct JD Parts
o Validate current prices match
o Validate if material rate change is valid
o Review for outliers
o Investigate or escalate
o Update system with validated information.
o Update system with current rate information
· Forecasting
o Manage specific council’s Material Place Holders (forecast tool)
o Meet with Supply Base Managers as need to ensure a robust forecast for raw materials.
o Assist in month-end activities related to updating forecasts in the CMS system
o Other support as required in maintaining projects in the Cost Management System (CMS)
· New system
o Responsible for dual loading of projects in the new forecast system and CMS
o Work with suppliers and Supply Base Managers to mass upload part level detail and other pertinent information in the new automated material adjustment system.
o Assist with validation of the uploads to ensure data integrity is high
