    POSITION SUMMARY
    The primary function of this position is to apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and to ensure appropriate accounting and internal control procedures. This position is also responsible for overseeing the outsourced preparation and filing of the Company’s sales and use tax returns, business personal property tax returns, and state and federal tax returns and estimates, as well as making tax payments in an accurate and timely manner. Additionally, the position is responsible for the reconciliation of sales and use tax accounts, and conducting tax research and reporting in the event of a tax audit.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Maintain general ledgers for one or more companies including processing adjusting journal entries
    • Maintain, analyze, and reconcile subsidiary and general ledger accounts
    • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
    • Assist employees in the field with accounting related questions or processes
    • Complete monthly and year end closing process for one or more companies’ financial records
    • Periodically assist with physical inventories or branch procedural reviews either in person out in the field or remotely from the support center
    • Assist finance team with the preparation of annual budgets using management input
    • Maintain fixed asset database for one or more companies, including preparing purchase and disposition journal entries, deprecation entries, maintain depreciation schedules, updating and reconciling asset accounts, utilizing fixed asset accounting software
    • Prepare reports of the company’s workers compensation and property/casualty claims in order to record and report the monthly claims activity to management
    • Assist CFO and VP of Finance with various treasury activities
    • Download and record monthly treasury transactions for multiple bank accounts
    • Prepare bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts and resolve any discrepancies
    • Prepare annual financial audit and tax return support schedules as requested by outside accounting firm
    • Coordinate outsourced monthly sales tax return preparation work and approve returns for filing and payments made by outsourced bill payment provider
    • Coordinate outsourced annual personal property tax return preparation work and file returns
    • Make corporate federal and state estimated tax payments and tax return payments
    • Calculate use tax liability on certain asset purchases and record liability and report to outsourced tax preparer for filing
    • Assist management team with registering new branch and branch relocations with state and local tax authorities
    • Review and research any tax notices and bills with the assistance of outside accounting firm
    • Reconcile sales and use tax general ledger accounts
    • Provide support in sales tax and property tax audits
    • Other responsibilities as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS: EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
    • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or CPA license a plus
    • 3 - 5 years Financial or Public Accounting experience
    • Experience working in distribution industry preferred
    • Considerable knowledge of accounting practices and principles
    • Working knowledge of sales and use tax laws and practices
    • Ability to prepare financial statements and work independently to apply accounting practice and theory
    • Ability to analyze financial data with an attention to detail and accuracy
    • Judgment and problem-solving skills and experience with various accounting and business application systems
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel (create pivot tables, vlookups, write/manipulate complex formulas)
    • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
    • Ability to pass drug test and background verifications
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship for any length of time
