Crane Operator operates a crane to lift, move, load, unload, or position heavy materials or equipment. Performs daily safety and performance checks of crane equipment and may perform routine maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating or checking fluid levels. Being a Crane Operator communicates via hand or radio signals to receive or convey instructions. Identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols. Additionally, Crane Operator maintains documentation of activities including time logs and inspection reports to ensure compliance with regulations and operating procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma. May require NCCCO Certification. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Crane Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Crane Operator typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    Crawler crane operator needs oilfield rig moving experience with a MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN CRANE.  Must be able to pass drug and alcohol screen which includes a hair follicle. Crane Operator is primarily responsible for managing the disassembly, movement and re-assembly of the crane. The crane operator is also responsible for the safe, efficient operation of all equipment in his care and the proper use of the equipment to safely and successfully accomplish the customer’s needs.  This is to be accomplished in accordance with current company safety rules, practices, procedures and behavioral standards. 


    Job Duties:

    1. Operate Lattice Crawler crane to move drilling rigs, perform production work and any other lifting jobs that may fall within the scope of crane operations.
    2. Disassemble, move and re-assemble cranes.
    3. Identify crane lifting capacities.
    4. Identify proper rigging and weight limitations of chokers, bridles, and chains. Ensure that all equipment and rigging is properly tagged and inspected.
    5. Identify oil rig equipment weights, strengths and the safe distribution of the equipment on trucks and trailers.
    6. Understand and follow applicable oilfield standards and codes.
    7. Ability to effectively communicate with and understand the needs of customers.
    8. Exhibit strong leadership skills with high expectations for self and others.
    9. Possess high integrity, intelligence and excellent judgement.
    10. Exhibit exceptional people skills and the ability to provide competent direction to employees.
    11. Communicate information and ideas presented verbally and written.
    12. Ability to visualize locations and direct activities remotely.
    13. Excellent work ethic with the ability to function efficiently without direct supervision and to effectively lead by example.         
    14. Direct supervision of crane riggers that are assigned to operator.
    15. Train assigned crane riggers on techniques to move rigs, including tearing down, and set-up.
    16. Contribute to the company’s overall growth and profitability by driving improvements in job quality, on time delivery of crane, and overall effectiveness.
    17. Ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
    18. Enforce company rules and policies.
    19. Review inspection and maintenance reports and create work orders for necessary repairs.
    20. Monitor condition and maintenance of all rigging.
    21. Be a leader.
