Job Summary

Responsible for operating a stationary or traveling crane to lift, move, position, and reposition loads. Depresses buttons, lifts levers, and ensures load is safely attached to crane before bringing it down.

Primary responsibilities

• Learn how to operate the crane under general supervision and eventually run crane independently.
• Manipulate or depress cane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
• Assist with crane repairs, as needed.
• Inspect crane for safety issues on a daily basis.
• Determine if any parts are malfunctioning.
• Move levers and pedals to rotate crane on chassis to raise and lower crane boom and to raise and lower load-line.
• Work with in precise limits and standards of accuracy.
• Operate crane according to signals from helper.
• Start and stop crane engine.
• Follow directions carefully.

Requirements

• Learn how to efficiently operate the crane.
• Learn ALL safety procedures to running the crane.
• Learn how to move bundles and racks so structures maintain their integrity to ensure they do not bend or lose anything.
• Be cautious not to swing loads, hit the sides of the tanks or walls.
• Learn Hot Dip Galvanizing Procedures
• Never lift bundles that are too big or bulky.
• Never go over top of any individual person
• Be aware at ALL times of your surroundings and what is going on and where people are.
• Be responsible and on time.
