Creative Manager is responsible for managing all phases of creative development work from concept to completion. Oversees the creation of art, photo, copy, and layout for creative projects. Being a Creative Manager implements policies and standards that reinforce the organization's branding strategy and quality goals. Manages and develops a team of designers, copywriters, project managers and vendors. Additionally, Creative Manager leads the development of creative briefs and utilizes design methodologies that meet the business objectives and timelines of the organization and stakeholders. Evaluates and adopts the most effective tools and techniques across all media. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Creative Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Creative Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Creative Project Manager

  • Project Management:

    • Review & Manage all Creative Team design & production requests from various internal teams – Marketing, Mission & Strategy, Operations, Regulatory, HR, and Sales
    • Allocate resources for all projects across creative team and freelancers based on workload via project management software.
    • Act as a liaison between cross-functional teams to obtain missing information and materials that the Creative team needs to work on requests
    • Verify the information is accurate on the packaging, creative or design briefs, layouts, and specifications received
    • Partner with cross-functional and external partners in all projects requiring creative support and ensure creative timelines and workload are considered.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional to balance creative resources, prioritize work, and adjust timelines as needed
    • Create timelines for the project and manage milestones in order to achieve the final deadline / adjust project pipeline steps’ timing
    • Monitor progress of project, keep deadlines on track, communicate obstacles internally & with cross-functional teams, and proactively propose solutions to overcome them
    • Schedule review meetings with project stakeholders to discuss and align on proposed creative and design concepts
    • Take ownership of the creative approval process (internally and via proofing software) and ensure necessary sign-offs are achieved
    • Be the go-to person and master of all packaging & marketing creative projects by tracking and communicating project status
    • Communicate updates internally and manage feedback loops and the approval process with cross-functional teams
    • Manage creative & common brand assets folder structure and archive projects upon completion: collect creative team members' feedback to update the structure and ease the process. Audit quarterly to ensure it’s following agreed standards
    • Identify areas for process improvement, including past learning, and implement changes effectively in alignment with creative and cross-functional teams.

    Creative Operations:

    • Create and maintain project details in Project Management software, fill in Creative team tasks, and make sure the Creative team has all information in the milestone/task. Be a project management software champion user
    • Align project goals with overall business objectives and contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans
    • Manage online proofing software templates and workflows
    • Source marketing print vendors and request quotes for packaging mockups, marketing communications collateral, and miscellaneous printed items as required
    • Serves as the Creative Team contact for design inquiries from print vendors
    • Initiate status update meetings with Operations – creates priority list, updates status as needed
    • Support Production Artist with Regulatory Audits, press-check approvals, Printer Proof approvals, packaging flats, printed materials library, and communication with printers if requared
    • Work with Creative team and cross-functional to continuously improve creative SOPs, processes, and print quality standards. Assist in identifying areas of improvement to the creative & design process, and work with senior management to implement solutions

    Qualification & Experience:

    Education
    • Post-secondary diploma; degree preferred
    Experience
    • 3 – 5 years of project coordination for marketing creatives, photo/video production, and packaging artwork creation & production experience in a marketing or agency environment
    • Experience in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for creative project workflows.
    • Strong understanding of the creative process in fields such as design, marketing, advertising, or content creation.
    • Comprehensive understanding of omnichannel marketing campaigns, creative strategy, and data-driven creative
    • Proven track record of partnering with designers, copywriters, creators, and vendors
    • Organized, self-starter who excels at prioritizing and planning multi-stakeholder initiatives and competing priorities
    • Proven ability to thrive while managing multiple competing projects in a fast-paced environment with a flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities
    • Analytical mindset to assess project performance, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions.
    • Ability to create effective relationships, influence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to lead, facilitate, and present to large groups and senior leadership.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel) and various project management tools; Experience in Asana, a plus
    • Thorough understanding of overall business processes systems thinking and the role of marketing in the organization
    • Experience with print production and packaging a strong asset
