Role
To handle clerical duties of the collection’s department to include collection and maintenance of overdrawn checking accounts as well as ensuring all collateral in Family Security’s loan portfolio is properly insured. To provide clerical support to the collection manager and collectors, and route department phone calls and mail to the correct person.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Contacts members by phone or letter to inform them of their overdrawn checking accounts in order to resolve the negative balance.
- Charges appropriate fees to accounts with negative balances when applicable.
- Ensures all collateral in FSCU loan portfolio is properly insured. In the lapse or absence of insurance, clerk will add Collateral Protection Insurance.
- Reviews necessary General Ledgers and post transactions from/to GL when needed.
- Maintains the assigned records, files, and reports as well as assigned clerical responsibilities.
- Maintain e-OSCAR and ensure all disputes are addressed in a timely manner.
- Assist the mortgage department by ordering and reviewing appraisals, maintaining list of approved appraisers and ensuring all appraisers have current licenses and insurance.
- Answers phone calls and directs callers to the appropriate person.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Intermediate PC knowledge with basic Microsoft Office skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Up to one year of similar or related experience
- Familiar with operation of 10-key calculator
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills while using a pleasant tone and common conversational courtesies
- Good interpersonal skills to include being courteous, diplomatic, and tactful
- Previous experience within collections environment, including knowledge of regulations and bankruptcy laws
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to multitask when necessary
