Credit and Collections Manager develops and administers credit and collection programs. Commercial Credit Manager

  • Commercial Credit and Loan Administration: Working closely with the Senior Credit Risk Manager, will be responsible for the commercial credit activity of the Bank. Oversees the Bank’s commercial Credit Analyst team and pipeline management. Develops and recommends loan policies and credit risk review policies and procedures. Identifies credit risk situations and provides guidance to the Commercial Loan Origination team. Administers all aspects of commercial loan underwriting, loan review, and credit training.

     

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

    • Supervises the analysis of financial information of prospective borrowers and if credit worthy, the underwriting of loans in conformance with loan policy. Assists loan officers with complex credits and all aspects of the lending process, as well as in making effective business development calls and decisions.
    • Provides training and mentoring to commercial credit analysts.
    • Reviews all loan-offering memoranda to present loan requests to appropriate loan authority level.
    • Identify and prepare credit-related processes and procedures, as warranted.
    • Recommend potential Loan Policy changes. Oversee process of collecting and implementing recommended changes to Loan Policy semi-annually.
    • Supervises and supports Commercial Underwriting Team and pipeline management to maximize efficiency and processing time.
    • When needed, analyze financial information of prospective and existing borrowers and, if credit-worthy, underwrite loans in conformance with Loan Policy primarily for large and/or complex borrowing relationships and to generally be completed, with accuracy and detail, within 5 active working days, requiring minimal guidance.
    • Participates with the Senior Credit Risk Manager and Commercial Loan Origination Manager in underwriting issues that dictate special attention. 
    • Review all internal annual loan review submissions of the existing portfolio to ensure appropriate credit quality, accuracy, completeness, and risk ratings to then be reviewed and approved by the Senior Credit Risk Manager. 
    • Oversight of the semi-annual independent/external loan review process in conjunction with the Senior Credit Risk Manager. 
    • Oversight of the Board Loan Committee agenda and package upload.
    • Oversight of Audit and Exam processes
    • Stays abreast of various lending programs offered by local, state or national agencies and competitors that would help facilitate broader lending opportunities and make appropriate recommendations to management about establishing such programs.
    • Perform other duties as required.
    • Completes all required compliance training as assigned in a timely manner.

     FUNCTIONS SUPERVISED: Commercial Credit and Loan Administration

    POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Commercial Credit Analyst I, Commercial Credit Analyst II, Senior Commercial Credit Analyst 

    BASIC KNOWLEDGE & TRAINING REQUIRED FOR MAXIMUM PROFICIENCY: Proficiency in WORD, EXCEL and other MS OFFICE applications required. Familiarity with automated underwriting systems is a benefit.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Eight to ten years of relevant experience in commercial lending including formal credit training. Previous experience as a Commercial Credit Manager supervisory role as well as loan servicing administration is a benefit.

    EDUCATION:  A bachelor’s degree is required preferably in business or finance with formal Commercial Credit Training or related banking education preferred.  

    MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY: The supervisory/managerial responsibilities are direct or conducted through team leaders or assistants.
