TruNorth Federal Credit Union in Ishpeming, MI is seeking an Operations Assistant to join their growing team. TruNorth Federal Credit Union is a $215 million credit union with 2 branch locations and over 40 employees. This is a full-time nonexempt position. This position is primarily responsible for back-office processing, to include but not limited to, ACH/draft posting and returns, ATM/debit and credit card ordering, card maintenance and dispute processing review, balancing general ledger accounts, and providing excellent service to credit union members mainly via telephone. This position requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail to perform a variety of tasks with accuracy and efficiency, and a strong sense of personal integrity with the ability to communicate and work as a part of a larger team.
The successful candidate for this position will initially work out of our main branch in Ishpeming but may be expected to work out of our Marquette branch location, or split between locations, starting in Summer 2024. Location will be based on TruNorth business needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Verify and balance the change fund from all branch locations daily. Verify deposits and process general ledger transactions for the deposits.
- Support credit card and ATM/debit card portfolios. Balance transactions and subsidiary ledgers. Update card data as needed and required. Order cards as needed. Process card transaction exceptions and adjustments. Assist members with card issues and disputes of fraudulent activity.
- Perform daily maintenance and problem resolution for the ATM including replenishing the machine and balancing to the subsidiary ledger.
- Process and post share draft transactions and returns.
- Process transactions from the Federal Reserve.
- Process ACH transactions including daily file positing and balancing, process stop payments and Written Statement of Unauthorized Debit (WSUD), and origination maintenance.
- Perform daily balancing and processing of multiple back-office functions to include Social Security Account verifications, the sale of cashier’s checks and money orders and daily subsidiary balancing.
- Process and maintain Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA) deposits, withdrawals, and account maintenance. Process tax withholding for related transactions.
- Follow record retention and destruction guidelines for all maintenance, transactions and posting reports.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Experience: One year of experience in a financial institution or two years of experience in a professional business environment
Preferences: Experience in a financial institution
Post high school education or training
Compensation: Minimum $16/hour. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications/experience. Full benefit package including:
