    This position is located at our Crisis Center located in Dothan, Alabama
    Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm;
    This position will require some on-call, weekends, evenings, and/or holidays as needed to meet program needs.
    POSITION SUMMARY/FUNCTION
    The Clinical Services Crisis Center Director is responsible for overseeing and providing the day to day delivery of behavioral health services at the temporary observation and extended observation units of the Crisis Center. The Clinical Services Crisis Center Director is required to be on call after hours, weekends, holidays, and may be required to fill in shifts due to employee callouts, staff vacancies, etc. This individual will also supervise all employees in these programs, excluding the physicians. The Clinical Services Crisis Center Director will also maintain compliance with program budget, agency policies and procedures, and other local, state, and federal regulatory entities. Travel may be required.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBLITIES/FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
    1. Directs and oversees the day to day delivery of behavioral health services delivered at the Crisis Center.
    • Responsible for ensuring a high quality of care for individuals within the Crisis Center.
    • Will work with the Treatment Team and Physicians to ensure crisis services are performed effectively and efficiently in a safe and least restrictive environment.
    • Responsible for ensuring that adequate clinical supervision is provided to all behavioral health professionals who perform functions that require such supervision (Medicaid supervision, etc).
    • Assists in overall Unit planning, policy and procedure development, agency evaluation, etc.
    • Assures there is sufficient clinical supervision/support for the Crisis Center staff. Works closely with the Exec. Associate Director- Crisis Services for each staff member to develop, maintain, and enhance each individual’s clinical skills.
    • Acts as agency liaison on clinical matters with outside agencies, groups and individuals, pertaining to Crisis Center services.
    • Responsible for directing comprehensive discharge planning and care coordination.
    • Ensure programs meet all specified guidelines including SpectraCare Personnel Policy, SpectraCare Clinical Policy, including but not limited to the Alabama Administrative Code, CMS, and all other applicable regulating and contractual entities, notifying Exec. Associate Director- Crisis Services of deficiencies and a plan of action to correct.
    • Responsible for notifying the Exec. Associate Director- Crisis Services when emergency situations occur.
    • Reviews and evaluates all clinical treatment services for the Crisis Center and conducts progressive action to meet accreditation standards.
    • Will respond and/or provide Crisis Intervention Services as needed.
    • Determines program priorities and how to allot staff time to various demands and/or needs.
    • Consults with the Medical Director, Psychiatrist, Exec. Associate Director- Crisis Services and/or other clinical staff concerning clinical cases and/or program options.
    • Evaluates clinical techniques on the unit, proposed and used, and initiates actions to provide assured quality service delivery.
    • Supervises and performs clinical and administrative review of cases, records and clinical evaluations as needed.
    • May provide direct clinical services, as needed, to include prescreens, diagnostic assessments, individual and/or group counseling and crisis intervention.
    • Ensure the data elements needed for outcome analysis are collected and reported.
    2. Supervises and directs staff of the Crisis Center.
    • Initiates and develops in-service training and/or staff meetings for staff as required, maintaining an effective work atmosphere.
    • Counsels with employees about problems at work, i.e., job assignment, relationships, performances, etc. and investigates areas of concern, resolving these and advising the employee, Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Operations Officer, Exec. Associate Director- Crisis Services and/or the Chief Executive Officer of any action to be taken.
    • Utilizes leadership skills to develop and maintain cooperative spirit and action among staff and individuals connected with the program.
    • Manages staff issues and/or crises occurring in the workplace to either resolve or consult with the Exec. Associate Director- Crisis Services, and Human Resouces as needed.
    • Coordinate and direct regular treatment team meetings with Crisis Center staff, Exec. Associate Director- Crisis Services, and Medical Director.
    • Works with Human Resources to coordinate Crisis Center staff schedules.
    • Supervises staff through observation, reviews, progress reports, case staffing, consultation, and other means at his/her discretion.
    • Continuous assessment of staff to promote growth, identify training needs, and ensure maintenance of skills with emphasis placed on proficient application of crisis management techniques.
    3. Collaborate with community agencies and other stakeholders.
    • Serve as a liaison to community, stakeholders, first responders, and other referring agencies, providing education and information as needed.
    • Develops new programming responsive to community needs in coordination with system management.
    4. Maintains compliance with financial budget.
    • Manages services and expenses to ensure budget requirements are being met.
    5. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor to include:
    • Participating in training, staffing and other administrative meetings as scheduled.
    • Prepares, coordinates clinical readiness and participates in State and Federal program inspections and site reviews.
    • Meet with supervisor on a regular basis.
    • Maintain time sheet accurately and turn in appropriately.
    • Documentation and other job tasks completed and up-to-date before annual leave or plus time taken.
    • Provide coverage during crisis moments with or without notice.
    • Travel within or outside the catchment area for meetings, as necessary.
    • Provide backup coverage in other programs as assigned.
    • Performs duties independently.
    • Function within professional boundaries.
    • Works well with other staff and individuals to ensure safety of program.
    • Functions and performs well in stressful environments and manages work related stress to ensure individual/staff safety.
    • Adhere to Dress Code as set forth in the SpectraCare policies and procedures.
    • Attends and participates in professional meetings, seminars, workshops, etc., and reviews current literature, researches, and studies seeking new clinical techniques and programs or adaptations, modifications or up-grades for existing efforts of the crisis unit as approved by the Exec. Associate Director- Crisis Services.
    • Other services, tasks, functions, and responsibilities deemed necessary.
    6. Regular attendance with timely arrival and departure according to scheduled hours.
    • Must be able to work full time with rotating assignments as necessary to include but not limited to after hours, nights, holidays and/or weekends as scheduled.
    • To ensure individual/employee safety while on duty, must remain awake during scheduled working hours.
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
    • Master’s degree or above from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, counseling, psychiatric nursing, or other behavioral health area with requisite course work equivalent to that of a degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or psychiatric nursing, and,
      • Has successfully completed a clinical practicum or has six (6) months post master’s clinical experience and,
      • Holds a substance abuse counselor certification credential from the Alabama Association of Addiction Counselors, National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, Alabama Alcohol and Drug Association, or International Certification and Reciprocity
    • Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, Inc.
      • Willing to obtain a substance abuse counselor certification credential within thirty (30) months of hire if employee does not have one.
    • Minimum three years management/supervisory experience required.
    • Possess a valid Driver License with good MVR.
    • Free from alcohol/drug related misdemeanors and/or felonies for the previous three (3) years.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
    • Licensed in the State of Alabama as a Professional Counselor, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, or licensed in other similar field.
    • Minimum of five years post-master clinical experience preferred.
    • At least five years management/supervisory experience preferred.
