Summary:
The Data Platform Engineering Manager Senior will have a strong background in leading teams focused on data engineering and cloud dev ops, with extensive experience in architecting DataOps. In this role you will be critical to delivering DataOps and MLOps capabilities to enable data engineers and scientists to move faster via reusable data platform components, ensuring the availability, observability, security, reliability, and performance of our data platform. The Senior Manager will be responsible for establishing the DevOps strategy for our enterprise data analytics platform, and for leading a team of individuals in delivering and maintaining these capabilities. As such, the ideal candidate should have a strong background in data architecture, operations, engineering, and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the data platform DataOps technical strategy and roadmap of capabilities ensuring scalability, reliability, reusability, observability, security, and performance.
- Lead and mentor a team of data platform engineers and platform administrators, fostering a culture of innovation and agility
- Design and implement scalable data infrastructure solutions that support both real-time and batch processing
- Build MLOps capabilities for the enterprise to enable efficient, compliant, and reliable machine learning models into production.
- Stay abreast of the latest data innovation and support the team in regularly performing POVs to understand which capabilities can enable the enterprise to make more data-based decisions
- Enable automation initiatives to streamline deployment, monitoring, and management processes using tools like Terraform
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of our cloud data platform infrastructure, including monitoring, performance optimization, and cost management
- Build and enable Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan capabilities for the platform privacy
- Implement best practices for cloud data platform security and compliance, ensuring data protections and
- Act at the central point of contact for key vendor relationships
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required in Computer Science,
- Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- Master's Degree Preferred.
- 8 years of experience building and leading high performing teams focused on DataOps, Client Ops, data engineering or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake).
- Hands on experience with Infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation
- Strong understanding of Dev-ops principles
- Deep understanding of data management principles, data integration techniques, and ETL/ELT processes
- Experience with DataOps tools and technologies (i.e. Airflow, Kafka, Spark, etc)
- Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, including network security, identity management, and data protection
- Experience automating and monitoring machine learning workflows and model deployment techniques
- Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker or NKubernetes
Nice to Have:
- 3-5 years experience with Snowflake and Python.
