POSITION SUMMARY:
Under direction of the Director of Teaching and Learning Support, and with minimal supervision, the incumbent will perform the duties of an Administrator within the Teaching and Learning Support unit. The duties of this position include the development, management, and support of Native student education and related activites. This position works in collaboration with the Director of Teaching and Learning, Principals, Alaska Native organizations, staff and community partners on the design and implementation of culturally appropriate and place-based curriculum, programs and professional development. The incumbent will also be responsible for data reporting, grant development, grant management and collaborate with other Coordinators within the Teaching and Learning department. This position supervises the Cultural Specialists at school sites in coordination with Principals.
Additional responsibilities shall include normal school management functions associated with the Administrator’s position and other responsibilities as defined by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education. The scope of Administrator’s assignment shall also be governed by any general outline of responsibilities agreed upon by the Board of Education and the Juneau School Administrative Association (JSAA) subject to the execution of Administrator’s contract.
The incumbent will be responsible for becoming informed of relevant laws including Title 14 of the Alaska Statutes, the regulation of the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development, Juneau School District policies and administrative regulations, written rules of the Superintendent, and the Code of Ethics adopted by the Alaska Professional Teaching Practices Commission
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
- Valid Alaska Administrator’s Certificate (Type B) appropriate to Administrator’s position at the time Administrator’s duties under the contract commence and maintain that certificate while employed pursuant to the contract and
- Valid Alaska Teaching Certificate (Type A)
- Demonstrated experience in the relevant work area.
- Previous experience working in a school district or related field.
Compensation:
This is a 210-day contract working August-June. Salary placement on the JSAA salary schedule is dependent upon qualifications, education and experience. Range G - $94,045.00- $120,461.00.
