    Job Description




    This position is responsible for promoting the NotMISpecies outreach brand. This role is responsible for increasing overall awareness of the NotMIspecies tagline through social media messaging, web content, press releases, and marketing plans and initiatives. This includes facilitating training of State of Michigan staff on invasive species management, developing toolkits for partners, increasing awareness of invasive species laws in boater safety courses, and improving signage and tools at DNR access sites to engage with the public and reduce the spread of invasive species. This position is the lead for planning a boating conference with partners and stakeholders. The NotMISpecies campaign is in conjunction with the Michigan Invasive Species Program (MISP), a collaboration between the departments of Agriculture and Rural Development; Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy; and Natural Resources. The workload will be coordinated with the DNR – Parks and Recreation Division’s Aquatic Invasive Species Biologist.

    This is a three-year, limited-term position being funded through a grant with the Environmental Protection Agency. The position is funded for fiscal years 2025 – 2027.


    Required Education and Experience

    Education:
    Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

    Experience:
    Promotional Agent 9
    No specific type or amount is required.

    Promotional Agent 10
    One year of professional experience providing professional promotional agent services equivalent to a Promotional Agent 9.

    Promotional Agent P11
    Two years of professional experience providing professional promotional agent services equivalent to a Promotional Agent, including one year equivalent to a Promotional Agent 10.


    Alternate Education and Experience

    Educational Substitution
    College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

    Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.

    Experience
    Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification. OR Three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification. OR Two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification. OR Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification. OR One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

    • Paraprofessional classifications are those requiring an associate’s degree or two years of college.     Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
