SUMMARY : Performs various duties related to facility laundry operation. Follows prescribed infection control procedures and replenishes linens as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Picks up soiled linens from various locations and transports to laundry.
• Sorts linens as to type and load size.
• Operates washers and dryers.
• Folds or irons individual items as required.
• Distributes clothes to residents' rooms in accordance with theft loss program.
• Labels personal clothing in a timely manner to prevent loss.
• Delivers clean linens to the clean linen closets.
• Performs minor sewing repairs.
• Maintains clean and disinfected equipment and work area.
• Attends in-service training programs.
• Complies with facility safety program; observes and reports the need to repair equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
• Communicates with residents and staff.
• Attends all mandatory in-services.
• Attendance is an essential function for this position.
• Adheres to facility and department dress code.
• Performs additional duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma Preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Must be able to understand English and understand job responsibilities. Must be able to read and write basic English.

WORK ENVIRONMENT : Maintain a clean environment throughout the facility. Job tasks will involve exposure to cleaning chemicals requiring precautions.
