Data Center Director directs and optimizes all operations of a data center facility to ensure data performance, availability, and security. Designs operating procedures and policies for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, networks, and storage systems within a data center to maximize operational efficiency. Being a Data Center Director monitors environmental conditions to ensure optimal temperature, humidity, and power supply to prevent downtime and protect hardware from damage. Ensures timely, accurate, and consistent technical infrastructure service and presentation to internal and external clients. Additionally, Data Center Director coordinates with outside teams to identify and implement new systems to support existing and future business needs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Data Center Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. This role requires a thinker with a strategic vision and tactical prowess. We need you to identify gaps and communicate ideas, solutions, and concerns as well as mitigation plans for future process development, iterations, and the continuous improvement of them. You will be expected to recommend changes and support your positions on those changes using the data you report.
This role will own financial and tactical business objectives and programs including the site renewals and the colocation budget management processes. You should have a strong business, financial and data center background, a track record of fixing things, and a bias for action. Experience in the datacenter colocation is required, along with experience in a fast-paced management environment, making quick decisions to remove blockers or risks to the business and the employees managed.
Candidate must be comfortable working across remote teams and possess the ability to compartmentalize tasks to separate and manage exceptions differently from the normal day-to-day. Keeping calm in chaos is key!
