    This position is located at Rockingham Youth Development Center.

    Recruitment Range: $31,200 - $45,622  

    Positions in this class perform paraprofessional instructional activities in a variety of settings offering opportunities for learning and that serve children and youth with one or more disabilities. Positions assist the teacher by monitoring individual student achievements, monitoring the classroom, gradating, providing individual or small group instructions, collecting and recording data, and charting behavior.


    Job Duties Include:


    • Inputting data such as grades and student/teacher schedules. 
    • Running various reports into PowerSchool.
    • Maintaining student records, transcripts, and files.
    • Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner with staff, students, ci-workers and visitors.

    This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

    Note to Current State Employees:
    The salary grade for this position is NC01.  State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.  If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.  Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

    About the NC Dept. of Public Safety (DPS):

    To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

    • Experience working with a diverse population.
    • Experience with classroom management techniques, coupled with strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
    Management Preferences:
    • Associate' degree or higher. 
    • Experience working in a school setting.

    Minimum Education and Experience:
