    About the Role:

    We are seeking a Director of Ontology and Data Modeling to join our team at Capital One. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise ontologies to support our Data Strategy. You will collaborate with various teams across Capital One to develop domain ontologies and integrate semantic technology into our products and services.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    - Understand the needs of our customers and use design thinking to develop semantic solutions that provide leverage and breakthrough results.
    - Adapt to evolving industry trends, emerging solutions, and changing customer and business needs to continuously evolve our semantic strategy.
    - Identify new solutions and enhancements that drive sustainable value for Capital One by understanding financial drivers and points of leverage within your domain.
    - Foster a data-driven culture that models the reality of intent and usage, validates outcomes, and drives insights for both tactical and strategic decision-making.
    - Promote an agile discipline and continuously improve delivery through key agility metrics.
    - Partner with Technology leaders to influence end-state architecture and develop secure, resilient, performant, and scalable technology solutions.
    - Govern the responsible and efficient use of technology and modeling resources by reusing existing solutions and building with extensibility in mind.
    - Establish a long-term Semantics portfolio strategy that aligns with customer and business needs and secure resources to overcome obstacles.
    - Attract and empower top talent in Ontology and Data Modeling, fostering a collaborative, outcome-focused, and well-managed environment.

    Basic Qualifications:

    - Bachelor's degree in information science, computer science, engineering, library science, ontology, semantics, or computational linguistics.
    - At least 8 years of experience in a metadata field (ontology, taxonomy, semantics, or computational linguistics).
    - At least 8 years of experience or training in using W3C standards (JSON, XML, RDF, RDFS, OWL, and SKOS) and linked data.
    - At least 4 years of experience or training in ontology and linked data tools (Protégé, TopQuadrant, PoolParty, Stardog, AnzoGraph, Neptune, or Data.World).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    - Master's degree or PhD in information science, computer science, engineering, library science, ontology, semantics, or computational linguistics.
    - 6 years of experience translating business strategy and analysis into enterprise semantic solutions.
    - Familiarity with SQL or SPARQL, graph databases and technologies, Python or R, JSON, OpenAPI/YAML, AVRO, Agile principles, and Amazon Web Services.
    - Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving, reading, and writing skills.
    - Strong project management experience and excellent communication skills.
