Data Science Manager manages teams tasked with identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies found in big data sets and used to develop insights by performing extensive data analysis. Oversees the interpretation of results from multiple sources using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining. Being a Data Science Manager manages the design and implementation of big data solutions for the organization. Uses extensive knowledge and research into big data tools to guide data scientists' adoption and use of new and existing tools. Additionally, Data Science Manager typically requires a master's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Data Science Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Data Science Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Responsibilities

    • Product Strategy and Development:
      • Develop compelling product visions and roadmaps that align with business objectives and address identified user needs.
      • Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and designers to translate strategic vision into actionable product requirements.
      • Prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely delivery of key features.
      • Monitor product performance through data analysis and user feedback, and iterate on the product based on insights gained.
    • Communication and Collaboration:
      • Clearly communicate product vision, strategy, and progress to cross-functional teams, including data science, engineering, design, marketing, and sales.
      • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and secure buy-in for product initiatives.
      • Be a strong advocate for the product, both internally and externally, by presenting compelling product stories and demonstrating value propositions.
    • Data Science and AI Expertise:
      • Possess a growing understanding of data science concepts, machine learning algorithms, and their applications in various domains.
      • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science and AI and identify opportunities to leverage these technologies in product development.
      • Work collaboratively with data scientists to translate technical capabilities into business-relevant solutions.
    • Metrics and Analytics:
      • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of data science and AI products.
      • Track and analyze data to understand product usage, identify areas for improvement, and inform product decisions.
      • Leverage data to communicate the business value and impact of data science and AI initiatives.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in product management, focusing on delivering customer-centric products using data and Data science techniques.
    • Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling products.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into actionable product roadmaps.
    • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment and managing cross-functional teams.
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and communicate data insights effectively.
    • A passion for innovation and a desire to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science and AI.
    • Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to build strong relationships and foster a culture of Innovation.
    • Knowledge of the transportation industry a significant advantage.

    Education/Experience

    Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, preferably with a focus on Software Development.
