Data Scientist identifies trends, patterns, and anomalies found in big data sets by performing extensive data analysis to develop insights. Performs data mining, cleaning, and aggregation processes to prepare data, implement data models, conduct analysis, and develop databases. Being a Data Scientist interprets results from multiple structured and unstructured data sources using programming, statistical, and analytical techniques and tools. Collaborates with teams to understand each data analysis projects' underlying purpose, focus, and objectives. Additionally, Data Scientist designs, develops, and implements the most valuable data-driven solutions for the organization. May require a master's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Data Scientist work is closely managed. Summary
Provost & Pritchard is seeking an Environmental Scientist to serve as a Water Quality Specialist for various agricultural water quality regulatory programs. Candidates for this position should have a passion for water quality, regulatory compliance consulting, water policy, and the nexus with irrigated agriculture. The Environmental Scientist will be a technical consultant to multiple client types including agricultural organizations, nonprofits, public agencies, and others in Central California.
Duties
Support will be provided to project managers and clients implementing nonpoint source regulatory programs such as the Irrigated Lands Regulatory Program (ILRP), Central Valley Salinity Alternatives for Long-Term Sustainability (CV-SALTS), and other water regulatory programs such as the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in a relevant science, engineering, geology, or environmental field.
- Background and passion for agriculture, water policy, and related regulatory compliance programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, particularly Excel and Teams.
- Experience analyzing water quality and environmental data and summarizing results via technical writing and
- Experience with analytical laboratory analysis methods and relevant QA/QC processes.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multiple interdisciplinary staff, such as engineers, geologists, soil scientists, environmental scientists, GIS specialists, field technicians, administrators, etc.
- Passion for private sector environmental consulting, regulatory compliance, and related career development.
- Client and project management experience.
- Detailed oriented.
