Data Security Analyst assists in the design, implementation, and enforcement of security policies that protect systems and data from access by unauthorized users. Creates procedures for data access, protection, and backup. Being a Data Security Analyst investigates security violations and modifies procedures to prevent future incursions. Reviews changes to information systems to ensure compliance with security standards. Additionally, Data Security Analyst may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Data Security Analyst works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. To be a Data Security Analyst typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     The Security Analyst position assists with administering the Safeguards and Security Programs.
    Responsibilities:
    • Implements safeguards and security program operations
    • Provides oversight of construction activities to ensure continues compliance with security plans and procedures.
    • Develops and maintains security plans, protocols, procedures, and program files for VNSFS in accordance with NRC and DOE regulatory requirements.
    • Conducts self-assessments as required or requested.
    • Performs Personnel Security, Physical Security, Information Security, and Operations Security functions.
    • Interacts on a regular basis with all levels of DOE, NRC, and other contractor management.
    • Assists with or performs Incidents of Security Concern Inquiries.
    • Provides Technical Surveillance Countermeasures support.
    • Conducts and/or assists with audits or surveys of security programs and provide assistance and consulting services to all departments.
    • Develops or assists in developing security plans and procedures.
    • Demonstrates a personal commitment to safety and quality
    • Performs Derivative Classification support
    • Conducts briefings and presentations as required or requested.
    • Prepares shipments in accordance with CMPC plans and procedures.
    • Escorts visitors and vendors as required
    • Reviews, maintains, and ensures the proper storage and disposition of FSV QA records
    • Assists in configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining security systems and equipment
    • Assists in security testing and maintenance in accordance with plans and procedures
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the NLF Project Manager, VNSFS Security Manager, FSV ISFSI Manager, FSV Facility Safety Officer, FSV Facility Security Officer, or FSV Maintenance Lead.
    SAETY RESPONSIBILTIES:
    • Keep work area in order and free of hazards. Perform work within the controls identified and stop work when an unsafe work condition exists. Participate in safety programs and initiatives. Report all injuries. Participate in work planning so that hazards are identified and appropriate corrective actions are taken.

    Experience, Competencies, and Education:
    • Requires a bachelor’s degree or at least 3 years of related work experience. Requires employee to obtain appropriate certifications and continuing education to ensure current knowledge of industrial security principles, procedures, and equipment.
    Language Skills:
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals. Ability to write routine and non-routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
    Reasoning Ability:
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
    Other Skills/Abilities:
    • Ability to operate office copier, telephone, fax, and computer are required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” Clearance.
    • Requires travel to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
