    SUMMARY

    The Oracle Database Administrator II is responsible for providing technical support to application end-users, software developers, and software support to developer’s workstations, and assisting with the installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, and maintaining of multiple Oracle 19c databases environments. They will work closely with the Lead DBA, Software Developers, Software Test Team, Product Owners, and End-Users to produce effective and functional solutions while maintaining architecture integrity across Test and Production environments.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Installation, configuration, updates, and patching of operating systems such as Windows 10/11, and Windows 2012 Server.
    • Installation, configuration, updates, and patching of Oracle 19c databases on Windows servers, application servers, and WebLogic servers.
    • Configuring, monitoring and managing systems and job tasks.
    • Performing data loading, data import and export, database and user management, database backup and recovery with RMAN tool.  
    • Performing system data analyses and data modeling.
    • Security patching of Oracle database servers and application servers.
    • Database problem resolution and trouble shootings.
    • Installation, configuration, updates, and patching of WebLogic 12c server on windows and Linux/Solaris.
    • Installation, configuration, updates, and patching of Oracle JDeveloper 12c on Windows 10 and 11 computers.
    • Installation, configuration, updates, and patching of Oracle APEX 18 and 21 on Windows operating systems.  Manage APEX applications.
    • Writing Oracle database triggers, functions, stored procedures and packages as well as other database objects.
    • Design and run SQL scripts to create custom reports.
    • Team player who can work with other team members to provide excellent customer support.  Assist other team members in the resolution of client computer problems.
    • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
    • Quickly complete assigned jobs and other duties as needed.

    Job Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related Technical Science area (e.g., Engineering).
    • Three (3) to six (6) years of hands-on Oracle database experience.
    • Experience working with Oracle 19c running on a variety of operating systems (Linux, Solaris, and Windows).
    • Experience with Oracle Backup Design Planning.
    • Expertise writing complex SQL statements and tuning existing SQL statements for performance and scalability.
    • Strong communication (verbal/written) and collaboration skills.  Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
    • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.

     

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

    • Hands-on experience with Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) for Oracle.
    • Oracle DBA certification is preferred.
    • Experience using Splunk, Windows Patch Manager, VMware Tools, McAfee, etc.
    • Experience developing SQL*Loader Data scripts and procedures that process and modify data.
    • Ability to create database jobs to execute ad-hoc PL/SQL, as well as procedures used to validate data, modify data, or gather table and index statistics at regular intervals.
    • Monitoring and troubleshooting SQL*Loader and PL/SQL data loads for performance, coding and Infrastructure issues.
    • Experience with UNIX shell scripting for automating regular data loading and other database maintenance activities.
    • Experience working in Oracle environment on Solaris 11/RedHat Enterprise Linux 9 platforms.
    • Experience with other database tools such as Toad for Oracle, and SQL Developer/SQL*Plus is preferred.
    • Critical thinking and problem solving abilities to address complex issues involving data movement and data replication.
    • Ability to resolve architectural issues in the environment and database infrastructure, as well as develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the database architecture and the application functionality.
    • Strong hands-on Experience with the Oracle RMAN Backup and Restore, Export and Import Data Pump utilities.
    • Experience working with Oracle 19c OEM for database monitoring.
    • Experience in Coding Functions, Stored Procedures, scripts, etc. using PL/SQL.
    • Experience with Oracle APEX installation, configuration, ongoing maintenance support.
    • Experience with Apache HTTP Server is a plus.
    • Implement version upgrades of Oracle databases and products as necessary.
    • Amazon Cloud experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of Web Services and Cloud Native environments.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to create and maintain technical documentation for all stages of design solutions.
    • Self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and with various skill sets including other DBAs, Software Developers, and Systems Engineers.
    • Microsoft Windows 11 and RHEL Systems Administration training certificates preferred (requirement to stay in this position).
    • CompTIA Security Certification preferred (requirement to stay in this position).

     

    TRAINING REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT

    Specialized training and certifications are required for this position.  Training and exam costs will be provided by Katmai.  Employees will be required to sign a Training Reimbursement Agreement that states that if unable to complete certifications within two months after employment starts or if employment is terminated within the first year, all or a percentage of the training costs must be reimbursed.  Details of this reimbursement agreement will be described in a separate document.

    TRAVEL

    Potential for travel. When required, employee will need to complete an MVR check.

     

    DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:

    Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy.  Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving.  The expected driving time is less than 25%. 

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Position consists of seeing up close and sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting weights up to 20 pounds.  Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse.  It is Katmai Management Service’s business philosophy and practice to provide reasonable accommodations, according to applicable state and federal laws, to all qualified individuals with physical or mental disabilities.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Work is primarily performed in an office setting.
     

    WORK SCHEDULE 

    Full-Time.  May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
