Dean of Engineering manages administrative functions of the college of engineering. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Engineering leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Engineering requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Engineering manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Engineering typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     In This Role, You Will

    • Manage and develop teams of analysts, associates, and less experienced managers in roles that provide technical services and support for the relevant supported systems
    • Be a product aligned liaison and partner with Product Tech Leads and Product Managers for the prioritization and delivery of resiliency initiatives
    • Work across organizational boundaries to partner with infrastructure, security, risk, and other platform teams to ensure the stability of our production environments for Wells Fargo customers
    • Lead teams of engineers and operations teams in production incidents, be responsible for stable delivery of changes into the production environment and oversee the overall stability of the production environment.
    • Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
    • Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
    • Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
    • Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
    • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third party providers
    • Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
    • Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
    • Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent
    • Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
    • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
    • Lead team to achieve objectives
    • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
    • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

    Required Qualifications, US:

    • 8 years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
    • 5 years supporting diverse end to end technologies in core banking technologies
    • Technology competency in application support for mainframe batch and online, distributed, virtualized application environments, public and private cloud
    • Demonstrated competency in product delivery model, agile, site reliability engineering, operations support, incident and change management, and architectural principles.
    • Demonstrated competency in CI and CD DevOps automation deployment strategies
    • Demonstrated competencies in site reliability engineering behaviors, workflows and tenets

    Required Qualifications, International:

    • Experience in Systems Engineering, and Technology Architecture, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

    • Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members and management
    • Refined and professional verbal and written communications, who can also assist in building and presenting complex topics to Executive management in multiple mediums.
    • Problem solving and analytical skills with ability to turn findings into strategic imperatives,
    • Ability to manage to concurrent competing and changing deadlines, quickly assess issue and concerns while bringing those issues to quick resolution.
    • Proactive innovator, motivator, and change agent; able to lead change effectively and constructively in an organization
