Dean of Fine Arts manages administrative functions of the college of fine arts. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Fine Arts leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Fine Arts requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Fine Arts manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Fine Arts typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Dean of Students

     

    POSITION PURPOSE:  The Dean of Students assists the Principal in the performance of the various leadership responsibilities, which are critical to the successful administration of the school unit. The specific duties which are assigned by the Principal and the decision-making authority related to such assignments are as established in the working relationship between the Principal and the Dean of Students.

                                           

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  The Dean of Students will primarily be responsible for student attendance and discipline. They may also assist in various duties, such as,

    • Observation and evaluation of classroom instruction.
    • Coordination and supervision of activities.
    • Evaluation of paraprofessional and other staff performance as assigned.
    • Responsibility for the safety, conduct, and general welfare of students.
    • Selection, assignment, supervision and evaluation of certificated and classified employees.
    • Oversee student attendance and determine procedure for notification of parents and work with Child Protective Services.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:  Valid Indiana License – Administration.  Will consider those enrolled in Administrative licensure program.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • A background in computer technology.
    • A successful background in teaching and/or leadership is schools.
    • Ability and willingness to follow directions given and to perform assigned duties in accordance with applicable guidelines, policies and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students and parents.
    • Ability to communicate well and to apply leadership skills within a shared decision-making model.
    • Ability to evaluate the instructional process.
    • Ability to plan and organize.
    • Commitment to innovation and creativity.
    • Experience with a school-wide discipline program.
    • Knowledge and prior application or experience in improving academic achievement.
    • Knowledge of and prior application of current information, theory and research in education.
    • Knowledge of and prior successful experience working in a diverse educational setting.
    • Leadership qualities and excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Risk taker willing to approach leadership through change process with demonstrated competency.
    • Skills in human relations.
    • Sound educational philosophy and instructional competence.
    • Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.

     

    WORK CALENDAR:  School year additional 25 days; 209 days per year; 40 hours per week

     

    SALARY:   Administrative Contract – 209 days; Base Pay – Negotiable based on Experience
