Dean of Students jobs in Columbia, MD
Dean of Students provides strategic initiatives and direction for student affairs. Ensures the delivery of effective and quality service to students in the following areas: student housing, counseling, student conduct, and orientation. Being a Dean of Students counsels the top management regarding overall student morale and services. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Dean of Students typically reports to top management. The Dean of Students manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Students typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. The Associate Dean of Students for Residential and Community Life works with the Dean of Students to design and implement a comprehensive student life curriculum for students. The Associate Dean of Students for Residential and Community Life is responsible for fostering a student-centered community where faculty involvement and a broad range of developmental programming initiatives are valued.
This is a 12-month, full-time position with a flexible work schedule to include evenings and weekends as it relates to programming or on-call duties. The selected candidate is required to live-in on campus in designated housing. This position is considered an essential employee (required attendance) and will be asked to be on-call to assist with any emergencies that affect the students living in campus housing.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
