Design Director directs and oversees CAE technical and team capability to support product, component, or structure design. Provides expertise and technical leadershipfor benchmarking, concept design, prototype development, simulation, testing protocols, and optimization utilizing CAE design and analysis techniques and tools. Being a Design Director develops and optimizes CAE methodology, including guidelines and standards, to increase design process efficiency. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Additionally, Design Director typically reports to senior management. The Design Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Design Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     What are we looking for?

    We are looking for a UI Architect to join one of our cross-functional client teams! This Architect is accountable for delivering on the most challenging technical tasks, through guidance and mentoring developers on their team. Additionally, this leadership role provides oversight to ensure the quality of work performed, maintain the project health, support clients with suggesting tech strategies, and aid in team system setup, code reviews, knowledge transfer, mentoring, and leadership in challenging project tasks. 

    Day to day responsibilities

    • Guide development teams to create elegant, usable, responsive, and interactive interfaces across multiple devices using CSS/HTML/JAVASCRIPT
    • Review designs created by web designers; ask any necessary clarifying questions and provide your feedback and guide as necessary
    • Guide development team to implement UI using defined principles, best practices, and code guidelines by the company
    • Guide development team to optimize websites to ensure fast loading speeds and passing the web-vitals
    • Guide development team to ensuring the pixel perfection of the website and quality of deliverables
    • Guide our clients towards strategic product features which are beneficial for the client's business and their growth
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development framework and processes
    • Lead the release deployment process and code reviews
    • Stay up to date on latest technology news in the e-commerce industry as well as in the development community. Sharing with the team and enhancing their development knowledge and experience.
    • Guiding clients to make the right decisions from a technology and tools perspective
    • Identify technical debts and communicate the same with our clients in a timely manner
    • Provide transparent and regular communication with the team, project manager and our clients
    • Overlook and handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Present accurate deadlines to our clients on projects and sprints. Keep track of your developers and ensure that they are effective at task management and communication with our clients.
    • Ensure the team developers are aligned with the weekly sprint and commitment to deliverables
    • Communicate with the project manager about any unrealistic sprints and tasks
    • Logically and realistically access weekly tasks set by the client and communicate with the PM and client if there are any required changes.
    • Understand their requirements, present solutions, and answer any other client questions 
    • Collaborate well with the project manager to prioritize tasks, discussing project-related issues, and any other required support.
    • Ensure good collaboration with other teams(UX, QA and App) in order to complete your tasks/client requirements.
    • Keep track of your team's sprints and tasks
    • Ensure the quality of deliverables of your team & be responsible for the health of the project.
    • Ensure your team is following all standard processes (e.g. deployment process, Gitflow process, QA, etc)
    • Submit incident reports as needed on a regular basis
    • Advise the team on various improvements & solutions with ongoing projects

    Ideal qualifications

    • Expert understanding of the latest technologies and the eCommerce industry
    • Experience working at a professional services company such as a marketing agency or consulting firm 
    • Experience managing complex web development projects
    • Experience with Shopify platform
    • Ability to delegate tasks appropriately on the team
    • At least 5 years experience hiring, managing employee performance, mentoring, and creating growth plans for a development team
    • Experience with conflict resolution and leading a team
    • Must be self-motivated and have an assertive yet professional demeanor, high technical aptitude, be detail-oriented, and possess strong multitasking skills..
    • The candidate should be passionate about mentoring/ guiding a team of developers
