Design Manager manages a team of CAE specialists that support the design engineering and development of products, components, or structures. Collaborates with engineering teams to provide CAE design, analysis, and modeling support. Being a Design Manager utilizes CAE tools to facilitate benchmarking, concept design, prototype development, simulation, and testing protocols. Evaluates project results to design, develop, and implement guidelines and procedures to achieve engineering efficiencies. Additionally, Design Manager requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a director. The Design Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Design Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     As a Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager at Cosentini, you will have the opportunity to grow and advance as you work on exciting and challenging projects.     Your role: 
    • Performing complex mechanical building design on a variety of projects to include hospitals, laboratories, high rise residential and high-rise office, and other commercial and institutional projects.
    • Manage the design of projects involving studies, reports, design, development, project management, and field implementation.
    • Incorporating design changes using AutoCAD and/or Revit software
    • Assist teams in performing design load calculations, equipment selections and mechanical system design
    • Providing credit documentation for LEED, and other building rating system design and compliance
    • Assisting in the preparation of basis-of-design descriptions, responses to client comments and other project-related documentation.
    • Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers.
    • Reviewing submittals and providing responses to Requests for Information
    • Performing other duties as assigned

    What kind of candidate are we looking for? We are seeking a talented and highly motivated engineer with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 5 years of experience in the HVAC design systems for healthcare and other commercial facilities, have an organized approach to analyzing systems and a thorough understanding of MEP systems.

    Qualifications:

    • Proficient with the use of Trace 700, AutoCAD and Revit software. 
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
    • Excellent technical skills, strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
    • Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code and healthcare compliance requirements and industry standards
    • Project and client relationship management experience
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment
    • PE registration is highly preferred in New York, or EIT with the ability to obtain a P.E. in 1-2 years.  

    Pay: $85,000 - 170,000 annually, commensurate on experience and skills.
