Museum Assistant
The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is seeking qualified an individual to serve as a Museum Associate. This position assists with visitor service tasks, membership and donation management, administrative tasks, and rental events. This is a part-time to full- time, hourly position with an estimated minimum of 30 hours per week, Wednesdays through Sundays, starting at $18 per hour. A weekly schedule of up to 40 hours may be available, depending on seasonal activity. Some weekends and evenings may be required.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Assists: As needed in administrative tasks including ticket sales, store sales, reviewing communications, mail pick up and processing, mailings, education department support, and providing support for events.
Membership & Donations Management: Record donations and memberships and maintain data in Past Perfect museum software. Create and send out donation and membership mail merge letters.
Visitor Services: Opens and closes the museum on days that he/she is assigned to be the primary staff member at the visitor service desk. Processes admissions, store sales, membership fees, and various payments through a Point-of-Sale system and balances intakes at the end of the day. Provides accurate information about the Museum, exhibits, programs and services. Serves as the front line for all phone calls for information. Supports docents when serving as the primary staff member at the visitor service desk: ensuring that tours begin on time, tours are assigned to the appropriate docent, deciding how to handle late comers to the tour.
Secondary Position Responsibilities:
· Assists with administrative tasks for the President and Events Manager as needed.
· Helps to maintain a clean, business-like front-of-line work environment.
· Be knowledgeable enough to lead a brief history tour of the plant.
· Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Familiarity with Past Perfect preferred but not required.
· Excellent organizational skills
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Positive attitude and ability to work as a team
