Development Director manages an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Implements donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Development Director works to develop potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Creates collaborative coordination between staff and internal stakeholders to plan events and communications to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Development Director uses technology to manage and monitor donor information and produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Development Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Development Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     REPORTS TO: VP of Operations


    JOB OVERVIEW:

    Responsible for overseeing and ensuring that all aspects of the program are functioning at the highest level in order to meet its goals and objectives.


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide vision, direction, and accountability for the program;
    • Create operational and organizational processes to deliver quality programs;
    • Lead the timely and critical grant development, writing, monitoring and reporting processes;
    • Analyze community needs and program data in order to find opportunity areas for growth;
    • Assist in the development and preparation of program policies and procedures, tools and protocols, guidelines and summary/program reports;
    • Create and complete contracts and agreements;
    • Supervise, develop, and evaluate staff in their areas of assignment;
    • Build a cohesive, synergistic leadership team to implement program goals and priorities;
    • Seek and incorporate staff training and development opportunities;
    • Develop positive relationships and ongoing communication with PIDF management, community partnerships, community-based support services, ECE/FCIL partnerships, funding partners, and decision-makers;
    • Keep the VP of Operations informed and updated on developments and trends within program and outside the Foundation that affect the program;
    • Attend Foundation and partner meetings as directed.


    Other Duties:

    Other duties as assigned including:

    • Complete special project work as directed;
    • Serve on various Foundation and program committees as directed.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    REQUIRED:

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field;


    Experience

    • Minimum of five (5) years of non-profit project management and implementation;
    • Minimum five (5) years of experience in early childhood education program development, community networking and supervisory experience;
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs;
    • Experience in grant management and grant writing;


    Driving

    • Access to a functional vehicle;
    • Valid driver's license;
    • A safe and responsible driving record;
    • Current no-fault auto insurance, with at least $100k in bodily injury liability per person and $25k in property damage liability (operating personal vehicle for work purposes).


    Preferred

    • Knowledge of issues specific to the Native Hawaiian population;
    • Knowledge of the cultures and lifestyles of the island/region/state.


    Work Hours:

    • Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm or as otherwise determined by the supervisor;
    • Must be flexible with work schedule, ensuring program meets the need to deliver services outside the normal operational hours if required, and ability to work extended hours as needed;
    • Position requires regular and predictable attendance.


    Working Conditions:

    • Home and office setting;
    • Travel in personal vehicle or via air to the community and program sites statewide;
    • Travel to neighbor islands is required and travel to the U.S. continent may be required.

    • Must be able to organize and manage multiple priorities and tasks and work under pressure to meet multiple demands and deadlines;
    • Must be able to relate well and work cooperatively with different ethnic and/or cultural groups and be sensitive to the cultural, language or dialect, financial and educational diversity of the clients and co-workers. Ability to interpret issues and concerns within a cultural context and apply cultural concepts in resolutions;
    • Take responsibility and ownership for successfully accomplishing work and the organization’s objectives and delivering results. Set high standards of shared performance for self and others;
    • Actively demonstrate a commitment to support equity and inclusion and serve as an advocate for colleagues, partners, and communities;
    • Ensure work is thoughtfully completed, accurate, and error-free to the highest degree possible.


    Physical:

    • Requires lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis;
    • Must be able to sit and work at a desk for extended periods of time.

    • Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints;
    • Must exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program participants, staff and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence;
    • Maintain positive personal and phone etiquette, projecting professional, open, warm and positive communication (written and oral) with clients and co-workers;
    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
