    The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset and the ability to navigate the complexities of both local priorities and regional economic trends, ensuring that county-wide initiatives contribute to the larger regional economy.

    RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Finance, Urban Planning, Commercial Real Estate Development, or a closely related field. A master’s degree is strongly preferred particularly in fields that provide expertise in strategic planning, data analytics, or community engagement.
    • Experience: Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development or a related field, including at least two (2) years in a leadership role.
    • Preferred Certification: CEcD (Certified Economic Developer).
    • Licensure: A valid Utah Driver’s License may be required to operate a vehicle.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Develop and execute a bold vision for economic development in Salt Lake County, aligning strategic initiatives with the County’s long-term goals.
    • Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture.
    • Oversee the Salt Lake County Redevelopment Agency, spearheading high-impact redevelopment projects.
    • Build strong partnerships with municipalities, state agencies, businesses, and community stakeholders to drive regional economic success.
    • Craft comprehensive strategic plans to attract new industries, retain and expand businesses, and promote entrepreneurship and workforce development.
    • Provide thought leadership on economic trends, market analysis, and best practices to position Salt Lake County as a premier destination for business and talent.
    • Drive inclusive economic growth by championing community success and creating opportunities that ensure economic benefits are accessible to all residents.
    • Act as a key spokesperson for the County, representing its interests at public meetings, industry conferences, and other events.

    • Expertise in Economic Development: Strong knowledge of principles related to business retention, commercial real estate, tax increment financing, and regional development strategies.
    • Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to align diverse stakeholders around a shared vision and deliver measurable results. Demonstrated expertise in change management, guiding teams through organizational and economic shifts.
    • Exceptional Communication: Skilled at engaging audiences through public speaking, written reports, and strategic messaging.
    • Innovative Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to tackle complex challenges with creativity and strategic insight.
    • Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal skills to cultivate trust and collaboration with public officials, business leaders, and community members.
