Diabetes Educator educates patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity and glucose testing. Collects patient data to monitor health status and proactively manage the patient's condition. Being a Diabetes Educator facilitates skill development and behavior modification so that the patient is able to successfully manage the disease. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent. Additionally, Diabetes Educator typically required to be a Certified Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Diabetes Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Our Endocrinology Physician Practice is seeking an experienced Bilingual (Spanish/English) RN, LPN or RD to promote and restore patients' health by providing diabetes care management and education to patients with such conditions.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bilingual (Spanish/English); Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; current Massachusetts RN, LPN or RD license; CDE certification; maintain licensure as certified pump trainer; minimum of 1-3 years of clinical nursing experience including experience as a diabetes educator in an ambulatory, community health setting. Knowledge in all aspects of diabetes care and ability to act as resource to patients, community and hospital personnel.
