Beacon, NY Parents are looking to find a Part-Time Conscientious and Meticulous Cook/Chef to help support them with a very restrictive diet for their 15 month old son who has Epilepsy in their home in Dutchess County, located along the Hudson River. The position will begin around Mid-late April.  Mom will have a better understanding of the diet after they undergo a 1 week in-patient stay scheduled for the first week in April at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where she will be educated and instructed on how to best control the "infantile spasms" by following a strict ketogenic diet and adhering to the rigid guidelines of this experimentive food plan. 

The "classic" ketogenic diet is a special high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that helps to control seizures in some people with epilepsy. It is prescribed by a physician and carefully monitored by a dietitian. It is usually used in children with seizures that do not respond to medications. It requires careful measurements of calories, fluids, and proteins. Foods are weighed and measured.

Responsibilities will include: focusing heavily on meal planning, shopping local for groceries/ingredients, religiously measuring/calculating to the gram, prepping, cooking, packing batch meals including packing/storing, safe and proper cleanup while being hyper aware of cross-contamination. The little boy has a Nanny.

Requested Duration: Temporary 1 month - If all goes well, potential to be a Permanent position.
