Our digital news department seeks a sports reporter who sees past the stats and scores. Someone who sets the scene with compelling copy and colorful commentary. The standout candidate must connect with each level to find sources for information and story ideas.

You will work across all areas of the network to ensure audiences online relate to informative sports stories that leave them yearning for more. As a core member of the digital team, you’re a self-starter with a passion for sports journalism. This role will be responsible for week over week coverage of network sports properties in addition to the broader world of sports. You’ll use an editorial lens that deconstructs sports in a way that makes them relatable and understandable to new audiences. No inside baseball here.

The ideal candidate is highly entrepreneurial, self-motivated and has excellent communications skills that can be flexed appropriately to easily convey your expertise to business stakeholders who may not live in your world every day. This role reports to the Digital News Managing Editor.

You Will...

·      Meet daily deadlines and maintain a steadfast commitment to journalistic integrity.

·      Identify and develop enterprise content for a national audience.

·      Deliver publish-ready, error-free content in a conversational format.

·      Attend key events and sporting moments on behalf of the network.

·      Contribute to the editorial process with consistent story pitches.

·      Consistently supply content to MSM’s social media and digital platforms

You Have...

·      Three years min experience as a digital reporter in a print or broadcast newsroom

·      Excellent news judgement, high standards for fair and accurate reporting

·      Working knowledge of AP-style; ability to deliver vibrant, clean copy on tight deadlines.

·      Proven ability to work well in a team setting and accept feedback in professional manner.

·      Ability to work in high-level content strategy with extreme attention to detail.

·      Deep understanding of internet culture, as well as digital publishing and distribution strategies

·      An unbiased approach to content creation. Our brand is objective. We inform our readers.
