    The Mission Inn Hotel and Spa is looking for an In-room Dining Server to provide prompt, friendly and courteous service to hotel guests, including being able to suggest and describe menu items to guests, and have full knowledge of all menu items and prices.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Checks service cart for cleanliness and ensure everything is there before leaving the room service area.
    • Serves each guest with a pleasant smile and a friendly, but professional manner. Tries to arrive at every room within 20 minutes of the time the order was placed.
    • Displays a complete knowledge of all menu items.
    • Follows the proper sequence of service at all times.
    • Serves all food and beverages with proper garnish.
    • Acts as a team player by assisting.
    • Performs the following tasks is required:
    • Cleans and refills all salt and pepper shakers.
    • Cleans and refills all sugar caddies.
    • Completes assigned side work in your station.
    • Leave station stocked for the next shift.
    • Assists by telephone guests/clients with room service orders.
    • Always calls the guest by name and answer the telephone in a friendly manner using clear, verbal communication.
    • Listens to callers to understand inquires and requests.
    • Takes all information accurately and complete.
    • Always obtains prospective guests' name, room number and how many people you are serving.
    • Creates, receives and visually inspects guest checks for any inaccuracies, then closes the check to the proper method of payment. (i.e., cash, credit card, room charge, house charge etc.)
    • Balances all cash orders and makes correct drop.
    • Complies with accounting guidelines regarding receipt of payments, checks total verification, tip disbursement, cash drawer and house bank management.
    • Ascertains guest satisfaction; in the event of dissatisfaction, tactfully negotiates accommodation.
    • Reports any difficulties, complaints, or compliments to the Room Services Manager.
    • Takes responsibility for any problems.
    • Takes control of the situation and promises to get back to the guest and then really do it.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

    In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

    • Keeps work area clean and organized at all times, pick up paper, empty trash can, keeps walls clean.
    • Wipes tops of counters and all equipment daily to keep free of dust.
    • Answers all telephone calls within three rings and always use the guests name.
    • Assists Room Service coworkers with orders whenever possible, to expedite service.
    • Always up-sell, suggestive sell, and strives to increase the check total.
    • Knows all menus completely and thoroughly.
    • Knows the Daily soup Du Jour and Seafood Addition.
    • Performs any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
    • Periodically attend hotel and department meetings.

    SEQUENCE OF SERVICE

    • Knocks on door 3 times saying "Room Service".
    • Enters quietly and introduces yourself/greets the guest properly and accordingly with the time of day.
    • Sets up table or service cart quickly and quietly.
    • Goes over the order with the guest (Verifies order).
    • Asks if there is anything else that they need.
    • Leaves envelope with check copy on table if asked.
    • Say "Thank you" when leaving. "Please call us when you are finished. We will come back to remove the dishes".

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    • 2 years hotel experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Riverside County Food Handlers Card and Alcohol Beverage Control Card.
    • Be able to communicate in a clear manner
