Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs
- Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administer medication according to prescribed schedules and dosage
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes or concerns to medical staff
- Prepare and serve meals according to dietary restrictions and individual preferences
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and reduce challenging behaviors
- Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals at all times
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure their dignity and privacy are respected
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Document all care provided accurately and timely
Skills:
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or other developmental disabilities
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors using appropriate techniques and interventions
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with individuals, families, and colleagues
- Attention to detail in documenting care provided and observing changes in individuals' conditions
