  • The Student Academic Success Center team focuses on creating spaces for students to engage in their coursework and approach to learning. Student Academic Success values delivering a positive experience of student-centered support and resources while being equity-minded, asset-oriented and data-informed The Assistant Director of Learning Support Programs for Supplemental Instruction (SI) position is aligned with the delivery of cohesive academic support programs, specifically course-aligned support of Supplemental Instruction. The Assistant Director of Learning Support Programs for Supplemental Instruction (SI) will report to the Director of Learning Support and Advisor Development. The Assistant Director of Learning Support Programs for Supplemental Instruction (SI) will be a creative and energetic team member with a passion for equity-minded leadership, coordinated student support through data-informed decision making, and a record of success providing student peer staff support. The Assistant Director of Learning Support Programs for Supplemental Instruction (SI) will provide leadership, supervision, and assessment of the SI Leader student staff of 2-3 Head SI Leaders and 45-55 SI Leaders members. This will include such tasks as: meeting with peer student staff supervisors; coordinating monthly peer student staff meetings; overseeing the Head SI Leader & SI Leader and observation schedule and tracking; creating, designing, and maintaining Canvas sites related to the peer student staff. This position will collaborate with the Director of Learning Support and Advisor Development and the Assistant Director of Learning Support Programs for Peer Tutoring on the composition and slate of course support offerings resourced through Peer Tutoring, SI or a combination of both. The Assistant Director of Learning Support Programs for Supplemental Instruction (SI) will partner with members of the learning support team in the coordination of the recruitment/selection, training, launching, professional development and evaluation of peer learning staff; and support the Director of Learning Support and Advisor Development in the management & delivery of the overall learning support program. Core Responsibilities: Supplemental Instruction (SI) Planning and Delivery – support the infrastructure of learning support service delivery, including, among others, recruitment, selection, training, supervision and evaluation of 2-3 Head SI Leaders and 45-55 Leaders; managing SI Leader observation scheduling, performing and tracking; creating and or maintaining relationships with the instructors and academic advisors of SI supported courses; management of SI attendance data tracking; support ongoing training and development of SI Leader staff; focused recruitment, selection, training and evaluation of SI Leader and overall peer learning staff. Course-aligned Support - partner with the Director and Assistant Director of Learning Support for Peer Tutoring in several areas, including such activities as: data-informed decision making about the composition of course support through Peer Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, or both; advisor and faculty communication and relationship building; partnering across campus to address course and subject matter resource needs. Learning Support Team – partner on training course development and ongoing team peer staff team development; support the infrastructure of learning support service delivery, including, among others, onboarding, and orientation of peer learning staff; creating and maintaining Canvas sites related to SI student staff or all peer learning staff as appropriate; Course-aligned Support Logistics Management – administrative support of SI initiatives including timecard process and approval in Workday; meeting reminders; attendance tracking, etc.; collaborate with Success Operations Team to manage logistics for programs and services under individual purview. Success Center Responsibilities – curate Learning Support content for Academic Success Center communications and campus partner requests; participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities; contribute to representation of the Student Academic Success Center at university-wide and campus partner events; provide short-term reception coverage as needed University Service -Actively engage in service to the University community, as evidenced by committee participation at university wide events and initiatives that provide both professional and personal development while engaging in the life of the university. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, leadership, sociology, psychology, human relations, or related field Experience: 3-5 years of relevant work experience with students, peer staffing models or student services. Strong oral and written communication skills Licenses or certifications: Have attended or be willing to attend International Center for Supplemental Instruction Supervisor Training, University of Missouri-Kansas City A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered. Preferred Qualifications: Education: Master’s degree in education, higher education, leadership education or development, or similar field Experience: 3-5 years of progressive responsibilities in an academic support environment.
