Director of Internal Audit jobs in Richmond, KY

Responsibilities:

• Develops the annual work plan for the Internal Audit Department; conducts formal multi-Company-wide risk assessments to assess organizational risk and focus audit resources on high-risk areas. 
• Executes audits, interprets and evaluates internal controls, evaluates policies and procedures in accordance with professional audit standards as defined by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
• Proposes, plans, and executes audits and assessments of company operations and business processes and identifies opportunities for improving those processes to minimize risk.
• Conducts meetings with company heads to review the objective, scope and timing of the audits; coordinates schedule, and identifies materials needed for review.
• Develops and prepares interim and final audit report findings in accordance with professional auditing standards which include detailed information about the audit and documents findings and recommendations for remediation. 
• Provides expert counsel to senior management on a wide variety of financial and operational issues and challenges.
• Provides guidance to departments in the establishment of adequate internal controls; makes recommendations for remediation to areas lacking sufficient controls.
• Making recommendations and implementing changes to ensure interests are protected and exposure is minimized. Prepares written reports and oral presentations for the Board of Trustees. 
• Manage other Internal Auditors as assigned.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:

• Prefer CIA, CISA, and/or CPA with a minimum of seven years experience in finance, accounting, auditing, or consulting. 
• Broad audit experience including financial, operational, business process, and inventory audits is highly desired.
• Experience dealing with multi-establishment entities and/or multiple companies under one holding company and workforce of 1700 plus preferred.
• Capability to work independently at all levels of the organization.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong PC skills including Word and Excel.

Physical Requirements: Limited lifting, no greater than 30 pounds in the movement of office materials and equipment.  Hand and finger dexterity for use of keyboard skills; ability to use video display terminal and telephonic equipment in course of work.

Environmental Conditions: Largely performs duties in an inside administrative office environment. Will visit work locations where PPE is required

Major or Unusual Problems: Rapidly expanding company is increasing the workload and therefore speed and accuracy of report generation must keep pace with the growing needs and expectations of the position. Confidentiality is a must.
