Established in 1998, Betty Shabazz International Charter School (BSICS) is a network of two charter schools serving K-8 students residing in Chicago. Since its inception, BSICS has consistently produced exemplary, high achieving students who have a strong sense of cultural identity and a commitment to make positive contributions to the community and the world. After graduation, students have gone on to attend some of Illinois’ top five elite public high schools such as Jones College Prep, Walter Payton College Prep, Whitney M. Young Magnet High School.

We are seeking an experienced Physical Education Teacher who is committed and passionate about working in a school environment. This position requires a great deal of physical energy and the ability to work with a diverse group of students each day. The successful candidate will be a motivated individual who can effectively communicate with students, parents and administrators.

Responsibilities:

• Promote physical fitness and health awareness in children.
• Teach basic techniques of different types of physical exercise.
• Teach children proper techniques of exercise and diet according to age group.
• Plan and conduct enjoyable physical activities with proper regard to safety, skill development, and fitness.
• Ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition.
• Adapt exercises to meet the needs of special population groups, such as disabled students and those with a limited range of movement.
• Direct noncredit fitness programs for adults.
• Guide the development of physical education curricula for student teachers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,500.00 per year
