Dispatcher, Sr. coordinates drivers and vehicles to convey freight or passengers to assigned destinations in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains contact with drivers to communicate updates, delays, or special instructions and relay delivery status to customers. Being a Dispatcher, Sr. records driver assignments, delivery time, and other transportation data in a computer database to track metrics. Ensures drivers are compliant with all DOT, state, local, and company regulations. Additionally, Dispatcher, Sr. requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Dispatcher, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. DispatcherRush Transportation & Logistics has 2 openings for friendly, reliable dispatchers to join our growing company as 1st or 2nd Shift Dispatcher.What You'll Do:Rush dispatchers are our best communicators and problem solvers! You'll be watching your dispatch boards to schedule drivers for our customers, ensuring pick-up and delivery of freight happens on-time, and safely. Other duties include assisting drivers with directions, coordinating solutions with our Dayton Driver Manager for any issues that may disrupt our impeccable customer service.Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the transportation industry
- Previous Dispatching Experience
- Knowledge of Dayton and surrounding areas
- Experience in working with mapping systems
Preferred Requirements:- Knowledge in DOT/FMCSA Regulations
- Experience working with Motive (formerly Keep Truckin') and CXT is a bonus
Job Duties:- Strategically and efficiently dispatch runs to assigned drivers
- Scheduling routes and/or services, along with checking on, and confirming with drivers their runs
- Building and fostering relationships with customers, company drivers and independent contractors
- Fielding driver and customer calls using excellent customer service skills
- Ensuring accurate and on-time deliveries
- Monitoring productivity performance and metrics
- Proactively address problems and advise of possible solutions for resolution
- Coordinating with Sales Team on set-up and delivery for customers
- Track and report on trailer locations daily
- Effectively communicating with internal and external customers
- Accepting ownership in organizational goal achievement
- Other duties as assigned
