Forced Exposure Music Distribution Seeks Shipping Manager

The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the shipping and logistics operations. They ensure orders are picked, checked, packed and shipped efficiently, while minimizing errors. The Shipping Manager inspires and motivates warehouse personnel, responds to inquiries from the sales and customer service department, and communicates with transportation carriers, to ensure a seamless workflow.

Shipping Manager Job Responsibilities:
1. Manage workflow so that all orders that come out to the warehouse by 3 pm ship same day.
2. Coordinate with Receiving Department to improve workflow.
3. Collaborate with sales and customer service department to ensure timely order shipment and accurate delivery.
4. Oversee inventory management, ensuring that filing of new product is handled in an efficient manner.
5. Evaluate and select transportation carriers based on cost, reliability, and service level agreements.
6. Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers to optimize transportation costs.
7. Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and international trade requirements.
8. Work with IT Department to implement and maintain efficient shipping and logistics processes, including automation and use of technology.
9. Resolve any shipping discrepancies, such as damaged or lost shipments, and work with carriers and suppliers to resolve claims.
10. Review and analyze shipping data, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
11. Train and supervise warehouse picking, filing, and shipping staff, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.

Required Skills:
1. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
2. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring that all shipping documentation and labels are correct.
3. Knowledge of international shipping regulations, trade compliance, and customs procedures.
4. Proficient in using shipping software, warehouse management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
6. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to quickly resolve shipping issues and make informed decisions.
7. Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate and supervise picking, checking, packing, and shipping staff.
8. Analytical and data-driven mindset for analyzing shipping data and identifying areas for improvement.
9. Understanding of transportation and logistics concepts, including carrier selection, routes, and cost optimization.
10. Good knowledge of shipping and packaging techniques to ensure product safety during transit.

Required Qualifications:
1. Proven experience in shipping and logistics management, preferably in a supervisory role.
2. Knowledge of relevant shipping regulations and documentation (e.g., Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Customs declarations).
3. Familiarity with international trade compliance, including import/export regulations and trade restrictions.
4. Experience in using shipping software and warehouse management systems.
5. Strong understanding of transportation modes, including trucking, air freight, ocean freight, and courier services.
6. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced shipping environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
