The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the shipping and logistics operations. They ensure orders are picked, checked, packed and shipped efficiently, while minimizing errors. The Shipping Manager inspires and motivates warehouse personnel, responds to inquiries from the sales and customer service department, and communicates with transportation carriers, to ensure a seamless workflow.
Shipping Manager Job Responsibilities:
1. Manage workflow so that all orders that come out to the warehouse by 3 pm ship same day.
2. Coordinate with Receiving Department to improve workflow.
3. Collaborate with sales and customer service department to ensure timely order shipment and accurate delivery.
4. Oversee inventory management, ensuring that filing of new product is handled in an efficient manner.
5. Evaluate and select transportation carriers based on cost, reliability, and service level agreements.
6. Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers to optimize transportation costs.
7. Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and international trade requirements.
8. Work with IT Department to implement and maintain efficient shipping and logistics processes, including automation and use of technology.
9. Resolve any shipping discrepancies, such as damaged or lost shipments, and work with carriers and suppliers to resolve claims.
10. Review and analyze shipping data, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
11. Train and supervise warehouse picking, filing, and shipping staff, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
