Job Summary:
The Building Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and safety at the Civic Center and the Eastside Community that includes but not limited to: set-up/take-down of equipment, chairs, tables and supplies, the general cleanliness of the facility, programs and rentals.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the security of the building including opening and closing procedures and securing facility at the end of closing shift.
- Utilize RecTrac to be aware of current and upcoming evening activities and programs.
- Responsible for hourly facility walk-thru security checks, check all doors and windows. At the ESCC check to make sure ovens and stove are off.
- Proactive monitoring of the Facility including monitoring all programs, and rentals.
- Always to be identified as a Park District employee. (ie. staff shirt and/or name badge).
- Greet guests, answer patrons’ questions and show rental areas providing exceptional customer service at all times.
- Enforce rules, policies, and regulations governing the conduct of patrons.
- Responsible for checking First Aid Supplies and AED machine.
- Bag a reasonable amount of brochures for quarterly brochure delivery.
- Complete special projects for supervisors such as making copies, cutting things out, making signs, etc.
- Secure and organize all recreation equipment, supplies including tables and chairs necessary for programs, and rentals.
- Physical set up and take down of mats, tables, chairs, and pickleball nets as needed.
- Sanitize door handles/knobs, light switches, counters, and other common areas.
- Process program, facility, and pass registrations via cash, check, or credit card.
- Responsible for all patrons accurately completing “Open Gym” type waivers.
- Responsible for balancing out their drawer after each shift.
- Assist with cleaning and sanitation/disinfecting work spaces and facilities.
- Wash windows and doors in common areas along with wiping down or dusting office spaces.
- Take trash and recycling out and replace the liners as needed.
- When cleaning supplies start to get low notify supervisor.
- Notify Facilities Supervisor of any changes, problems, or emergencies.
- Perform all jobs and tasks within guidelines and rules of District’s safety program.
Education and Experience:
This position requires two years of work experience preferably in customer service and must be age 18 .
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate with the public
- Aptitude to deal with the public in stressful situations
- Capable of functioning independently
- Understand and anticipate customer’s needs as well as support a customer service environment
- Ability to portray a professional image of the District
- Ability to use the Clorox 360 sanitation machine (training will be provided)
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
This job is performed in a typical office environment. Time is spent walking through facility and on the physical set-up and take down for events. Occasionally lifts and/or moves items weighing up to 35 pounds.
Hours: This part time position is approximately 10 hours per week and mostly evening & weekends, but some day shifts may be available depending on coverage needs. You must be available two Saturdays and two Sundays per month. These weekday shifts typically start at 4:30pm and could last until 10:00pm and weekends are a variety of shift times; both morning and evening depending on programming and events.
Starting Salary: $14.00 per hour (DOQ). This role is not benefit eligible.
