    JOB SUMMARY: The SER Finance team is searching for an engaged and versatile professional with attention to detail for the Account Manager/Budget Analyst position. The role reviews departmental budgets, conducts cost-benefit analyses, and develops budgets for the company and subsidiaries as well as individual business lines as assigned. As directed, performs post-audit and other reviews of actual expenditures and/or revenues and general support to the Finance Team.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Adheres to the mission of SER Metro-Detroit and Subsidiaries.

    2. Assists in corporate budget preparation and modifications as required for assigned contracts. Assist with budget development for new proposals.

    3. Monitors actual versus budgeted expenditure and revenue figures; recommends budget adjustments as necessary.

    4. Prepares monthly invoices including assembling necessary supporting documentation, generate required reports, troubleshoot and resolve reconciliation problems, and ensure invoices/billings reconcile to the general ledger for assigned contracts.

    5. Works directly with program managers to assist with forecasting expenditures, managing subcontractors, anticipating budget overruns or shortfalls and prepare budget revision requests as needed.

    6. Responds to inquiries and requests for information from employees, auditors, funding sources and/or vendors and conducts research as needed. Responsible for all communications related to the contract assigned.

    7. Functions as a liaison between the fiscal department, the funding sources and the program managers for each contract assigned. Responsible for the management of contracts, contract amendments, budget, budget revisions, invoicing and collection issues and other account manager duties as deemed necessary.

    8. Assists with agency annual audit, and all audits and monitoring of assigned contracts; providing requested supporting documentation, responding to inquiries, and resolving issues to ensure timely completion.

    9. Coordinates with program staff to ensure expenditure benchmarks are met and that the fiscal and program departments are aligned.

    10. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Bachelor’s degree from a four year accredited university or college with a degree in accounting, business administration, or related field required.

    2. Two (2) years of experience in general accounting, fiscal management, and government accounting, preferably in the non-profit sector

    3. Knowledge of WIOA, TANF, SNAP E&T and other pertinent regulations and procedures.

    4. Knowledge of GAAP and other applicable accounting procedures.

    5. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and build professional relationships with employees and auditors.

    6. Ability to construct and maintain a comprehensive budget.

    7. Ability to multi-task. Quickly and accurately, shift attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.

    8. Ability to work independently to handle pressures related to meeting deadlines and completing tasks requiring concentration.

    9. Comfortably and confidently, use a computer and specialized software to maintain accounting records. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) as well as accounting software; knowledge of MIP preferred.

    10. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

    11. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, evening and/or weekend hours when required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Must have physical ability to occasionally sit in one position for extended periods of time when data entering information. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, stand or walk as necessary. Employee must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Employees must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a normal office environment with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photo copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Fast paced, mentally demanding and will be in constant communications.
