  • Become a key player in Potential Inc.'s team of professionals serving individuals with Autism! Potential's Director of Donor Relations, a newly created leadership position, reports directly to the CEO to whom the Director of Donor Relations will be a strong partner. This person will be responsible for building and managing a major gifts fundraising portfolio that supports the top priorities of the institution, overseeing the management of the Annual Fund, and managing Potential's development functions, including a small grants portfolio.


    RESPONSIBILITIES


    Management & Operations

    • Provide day-to-day operational oversight of development staff, including meeting management; high-level database and systems administration; and monthly reporting against goals
    • Ensure proper stewardship practices for the timely and accurate recording and acknowledgment of all gifts
    • Partner with the CEO to ensure fundraising meets budget and organizational needs
    • Provide direction and ongoing feedback to development staff and conduct regular meetings on progress against goals
    • Engage, cultivate, and solicit high-level donors, by creating and identifying new giving opportunities and assisting with stewarding existing donors. Build and maintain relationships with both new and current donors
    • Set the direction for and oversee the management of the Annual Fund
    • Support assigned high-level volunteers with all aspects of solicitation work
    • Identify and enlist new prospects
    • Other duties as assigned

    Data & Analysis

    • Design and implement systems that track donor and prospective donor engagement, and ensure accurate and timely reporting internally and externally
    • Provide and present a statistical analysis of fundraising successes, challenges, and opportunities to the CEO and board of directors at regular intervals
    • Develop metrics that measure impact and effectiveness.
    • Execute set strategies and track progress toward goals

    Strategy

    • Collaborate with Potential leadership to create materials, events, and reports that keep funders engaged
    • Work with staff across the organization to share information and develop cultivation strategies for volunteers, donors, and other constituencies
    • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO regarding the organization's overall development strategy

    TIME BREAKDOWN

    • Interaction with fundraising prospects (75%)
    • Analysis, strategy, and thought leadership (10%)

    • Grants management (5%)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
    • Five to seven years of development/fundraising experience (primarily in major gifts fundraising) or other related senior experience in a philanthropic environment
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage the time of senior volunteers, and demonstrated success in all phases of personally cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding large gifts from individuals
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
    • The ability to present complex information in a clear and compelling manner
    • Intellectual flexibility and the demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Travel as needed
    • Entrepreneurial spirit and a self-starter
