Drafting Supervisor supervises a team within an organization's computer-aided design (CAD) department. Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of drafters and other employees working on design projects. Being a Drafting Supervisor ensures deadlines, goals, and production standards for the department are met. Analyzes data and reviews drawings/plans to ensure quality of work and project feasibility. Additionally, Drafting Supervisor reviews project results and makes recommendations for improvement. Provides CAD technical support and develops solutions. Uses knowledge of the field to keep the department's software, techniques, and tools up to date. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Drafting Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. SUMMARY:
Proficiency using Auto CAD Civil 3-D Graphic System to perform drafting, design, and plotting duties in the preparation of plans and specification and boundary surveys for construction of in-house civil engineering projects as it relates to land development, water, sanitary sewer and drainage systems, city annexations, street and parking lot improvements, land acquisitions, commercial and industrial buildings and structures.

Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Must have 0 to 3 years of relevant work experience in either the private or public sector as a CAD Technician, Drafter, or related field.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Must have a current Texas driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
Apprentice Drafter Certification - Preferred
