Drilling Engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of oil and gas wells. Performs design evaluations and recommends alterations to improve safety, costs, and efficiency. Being a Drilling Engineer may conduct risk assessment and cost estimation. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Additionally, Drilling Engineer is familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Typically reports to supervisor or manager. Key Accountabilities
Provides onsite drilling oversight on exploratory and subsequent development wells.
Overall safety and environmental aspects of the operations.
Ensures local regulations are strictly complied with at all times.
Develops a plan for the successful and efficient implementation of the Drilling program to optimize operations.
Reacts to and controlling any situation regarding the rig and personnel onboard.
Tracks and controls costs.
Maintains records and reports of operations.
Maintains good communication between office and rig.
Coordinates and critiques service company activities.
Provides office based operational support as required.
Reviews and optimizes drilling programs / procedures.
Assists in preparation of drilling documentation / manuals.
Participates in emergency preparedness and permitting activities.
Basic / Required :
Typically 15 plus years of experience.
Responsible across the operation for strategic / functional support.
Adapts and executes functional business plans; deploys resources to achieve financial and business objectives.
Decisions are guided by functional strategies / priorities.
Preferred Skills for the candidate :
Bakken Drilling experience preferred; but Permian experience transfers nicely
Proficient in MPD Operations
Proficient in WellView, Open Invoice
3 plus years of drilling supervision
Education : HS Diploma or Equivalent
Work Schedule : 2 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off (14Hr Days) - 14 days on / 14 days off
Pay Range :
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $70.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
