POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for conducting screenings and bio-psycho-social assessments to determine appropriate placement levels of care for inmates detained in Erie County Prison and Community Corrections Center. The incumbent is also responsible for facilitating individual and group counseling sessions to provide clients with opportunities to explore recovery issues and work toward mutually determined recovery goals, attend required prison and clinical staff meetings and complete all required paperwork needed to meet Licensing, DDAP, and the prison regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors level degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or related field and 3 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent person. (A Certified Addictions Counselor is preferred).
- Must have valid Pennsylvania licensure or Pennsylvania Certification Board credentials, including LPC, LCSW, LSW, CAAC, CADC, CAADC, or CSS or be able to acquire licensure or credentials within two (2) years of hire.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, organizational skills and the ability to effectively work with a team.
- Strong clinical skills with working knowledge of mental health system, drug and alcohol system and recovery principles.
- Ability to effectively work with persons with mental illness and develop comprehensive treatment / recovery plans for their program participation.
- Act 31/33/34 Clearance and FBI Criminal Background Check.
- Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle during scheduled work hours.
