By joining our Office of Audits, Division of Road Fund Audits in the KYU/KIT Branch as a/an INTERNAL AUDIT SUPERVISOR in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to Supervise a team of auditors; select and assign audits of in-state (KIT) trucking companies; review the work of professional auditors in the analysis of financial and statistical records; ensure compliance with applicable record keeping and audit requirements for KIT/KYU audits.
Holders of the INTERNAL AUDIT SUPERVISOR position will complete tasks such as:
- Supervising the audit staff, including approving timesheets and leave, selecting and assigning audits, and monitoring the work of the audit staff.
- Conducting and reviewing audits. Ensuring that the work of the audit staff meets applicable Kentucky Intrastate Tax (KIT) and Kentucky Weight Distance Tax (KYU) regulations and Kentucky Regulation and Statutes (KRS) are adhered to.
- Ensuring the audit program is followed in compliance with Office policies and procedures.
- Assisting the audit manager in developing the audit program, making recommendations to ensure policy and audit procedures are kept updated, and processing final rulings on disputed audits.
- Coordinating and providing training to auditors.
- Attending meetings and training sessions to keep abreast of current audit standards.
- Develop and recommend policy and procedural changes for consistency with generally accepted account and auditing standards.
- Testify in Administrative and Circuit Court hearings as an expert witness as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Holders of this job will obtain the following skills:
- Be well versed in laws and regulations applying to KIT and KYU audits and record keeping requirements.
- Have a working knowledge of the Kentucky Human Resources Information System (KHRIS) for approving time and gathering staff information, as well as having a working knowledge of AgilePoint for business management processes such as posting to hire vacant positions.
- Will gain start to finish knowledge of the hiring process.
- Gain a working understanding from an auditor's perspective of the KYU Online System, KIT Online System/KYIMS System, KAVIS, IRP Data Repository System, IFTA Transmittals website, and IFTA Demographic website to conduct and review KIT KYU audits.
- Develop communication skills as a result of working with licensees in the trucking community as well as official with the KYTC.
Some travel is required. Most work is completed sitting at a desk, working on a computer.
