District Business Manager
Douglas ESD is accepting applications for a
District Business Manager. This is a confidential position that works 250 days per year, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.

Starting Salary: $67,600 – $87,354
(depending on relevant verifiable experience)
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide accounting expertise and analysis to finance department staff, other ESD departments and Douglas County school districts. Be responsible for the integrity of data posted to the general ledger and the dissemination of financial information to departments and the public. All essential functions apply to ESD and contracted business service entities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in finance, business or closely related field or a combination of education and experience preferred. Working knowledge of Governmental Fund Accounting methods and budgeting. Advanced demonstration and knowledge in several areas of the position. SFO certification ideal.

- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week plus more as needed; able to perform all functions of the job description with or without accommodation.Attend evening and weekend meetings as needed for ESD/Districts.
- Ability to be an integral part of a team and also work independently
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members, Superintendents, board members and the public
- Research and review accounting problems and develop solutions for finance department and provide accounting expertise and analysis
- Assist in performing activities involved in the maintenance and control of the general ledger.Review and/or initiate and post journal entries; monitor posted financial data; prepare financial analyses and reconciliations; research and review transactions and advise departments on proper coding
- Monitor revenues and expenditures for budgetary compliance.Analyze significant budget activity fluctuations and all financial activity and financial statements for comparability and reasonableness
- Assist in preparation of annual audit work papers for external auditors, including supporting analyses and schedules.Assist external auditors by researching questions, resolving issues, creating reports, and responding to auditor findings
- Prepare all payroll activities including payroll, payroll benefits and deductions, payroll cost distributions and leave accrual.Transmit tax and other liability payments
- Prepare employee cost analysis for negotiations, maintain confidentiality of payroll information, prepare personnel budgeting (salaries and associated payroll costs).
