    Education Program Manager

    Norwalk/Stamford Grassroots Tennis & Education (Grassroots) is a youth development nonprofit working to empower young people in finding and strengthening their voices and making their mark in the world through tennis and education. We are seeking a dynamic and creative Education Program Manager to work with and support our program team to deliver academic/enrichment programming. This person will have strong interpersonal skills, thrive in an environment that requires great flexibility, and have a strong desire and capability to lead youth programming.What Youll DoThis position is responsible for implementing and supporting year-round programming for our middle school youth.The schedule for this position is 10am 6pm, Monday Friday. There will be additional hours based on need for program events, meetings, etc. This position currently reports to the Acting Executive Director and Senior Director of Tennis and works collaboratively and closely with the entire program team daily.Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assess middle school students to determine academic and social-emotional needs; in partnership with the student, develop and implement a plan for each student, coordinating with their guardians and other stakeholders in their lives. Develop and implement afterschool and summer programming to build and strengthen social-emotional and character development, leadership development and high school and career readiness competencies. Work in partnership with the Senior Director of Tennis to develop off-court programming for Junior Coaches that integrates and supports their learning and growth on the court and in their jobs. Research, communicate and incorporate current trends and best practices on a variety of related issues/areas including, but not limited to race and equity, student voice, college and career readiness, social-emotional learning, academic self-efficacy, youth leadership development.

    Train, coordinate and oversee volunteers as appropriate/necessary. Serve as students advocate in school and the community when necessary. Facilitate communication and relationships with guardians, schools, and other stakeholders to work in partnership to meet the needs of students. Work with program team to support data collection, tracking, compiling, and reporting; incorporate data into decision making.What You BringThis is an exciting time to join the Grassroots team. Trained education/youth development professional at least two years experience working with and relating to elementary and middle school youth. Demonstrates high emotional intelligence, patience, compassionate, active listener, flexible and inclusive. Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse groups of people. Problem-solver; ability to think outside-the-box, manage multiple tasks, set priorities, keep organized, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines, and work productively and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices a plus. Knowledge of Norwalk Public School system a plus; not required. Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish or Creole); not required.What We OfferThis is a full-time non-exempt position, $25 per hour to be paid every two weeks.
