EEO Supervisor supervises affirmative action programs to ensure compliance with equal employment opportunity (EEO) requirements. Researches discrimination complaints and proposes recommendations for resolution. Being an EEO Supervisor conducts workforce analysis and reports trends and statistical information to senior management. Collaborates with management to develop diversity recruiting and retention initiatives. Additionally, EEO Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Thorough knowledge of the team processes.     Job Description



    The role of the Eligibility Specialist is to strengthen Michigan families by:

    • Ensuring that each person/family that applies for public assistance receives the type and level of assistance that they are eligible for
    • Assessing the needs of each person/family and giving them appropriate information and making any referrals and/or contacts to persons/agencies to help them meet their needs.
    • Providing all families with information about the expectations and goals of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
    • Encouraging and guiding families in their efforts to become self supporting

    Required Education and Experience

    Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits).

    Assistance Payments Worker 9
    One year of experience equivalent to an Assistance Payments Worker 8, Migrant Program Worker 8, or Family Independence Specialist 9.

    Assistance Payments Worker E10
    Two years of experience equivalent to an Assistance Payments Worker, including one year equivalent to an Assistance Payments Worker 9;
    OR
    Two years equivalent to a Migrant Program Worker, including one year equivalent to a Migrant Program Worker 9;
    OR
    Two years of experience equivalent to a Family Independence Specialist, including one year equivalent to a Family Independence Specialist 10.

    Assistance Payments Worker 11
    Three years of experience equivalent to an Assistance Payments Worker, including one year equivalent to an Assistance Payments Worker E10;
    OR
    Three years equivalent to a Migrant Program Worker, including one year equivalent to a Migrant Program Worker E10;
    OR
    Three years of experience equivalent to a Family Independence Specialist, including one year equivalent to a Family Independence Specialist P11.

    Alternate Education and Experience

    Four years of administrative support experience in a human services or office setting, including two years equivalent to the experienced (E7) level, may be substituted for the education requirement.

    Completion of one year of college (30 semester or 45 term credits) and three years of administrative support experience in a human services or office setting, including one year equivalent to the experienced (E7) level, may be substituted for the education
    requirement.

    Three years of Home Aide experience, including one year equivalent to a Home Aide E8, may be substituted for the education requirement.

    Additional Requirements and Information

    This position may be filled as a limited term assignment that has the potential of becoming permanent, but this is not guaranteed.

    The office location for this position is located at the Montcalm County Department of Health and Human Services, 609 N. State, Stanton, MI 48888 however, this position has the ability to work hybrid (remote/office). Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

    Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

    Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.

    Bonus Programs: Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.

    Military Pay Differential: Employees in the guard or reserves may also qualify for supplemental pay benefits if miliary pay during qualifying duty is less than normal state pay. Prior military service may also allow seniority credits to accelerate eligibility for longevity bonuses and additional personal leave accrual.

    Tax-Advantaged Programs: In addition to 401(k) and 457 retirement accounts, the state also offers flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), and qualified transportation fringe benefit (QTFB) programs that can help you save money by reducing your taxable income.

    Student Loan Forgiveness: Working for the State of Michigan may allow you to participate in programs that forgive the balance of qualifying student loans. Information to help determine if you could qualify is available from the U.S. Department of Education.

    Tuition Reduction: Some colleges and universities offer savings to eligible employees and family members to further their education while working for the State of Michigan.
