SUMMARY
A Direct Support Professional-Field Trainer is responsible for training, retraining, and evaluation of new & existing staff. All duties are to be conducted within contract, state, and federal regulations, applicable laws, as well as company policies and procedures. Will provide overall support to individuals who are intellectually and/or developmentally disabled in accordance with their Person-Centered Individualized Plan (PCISP). Services may be rendered in a facility, the community, personal residence, family home, or place of employment. All services are to be delivered in such a manner that meets all federal, state, local, and accrediting entity regulatory requirements as well as Lirio policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plan and schedule employee trainings on a regular basis, which can include client specific training for new and existing staff, on-the-job training for new hires, supervised med passes, and re-trainings as required for all staff.
2. Help develop training curriculum that meets the needs of specific departments and the agency’s overall mission in conjunction with department leaders, QA Specialist, and Directors.
3. Create and disseminate monthly training calendars to all department leaders. Send monthly summaries of employee trainings coming due, due, or expired and follow-up appropriately to ensure that all training requirements are met.
4. Look for ways to improve processes and efficiency and provide recommendations.
5. Identify gaps in skills & analyze these gaps to identify training, development, hiring, or other strategy needs to help your teams perform effectively.
6. Develop or update supplemental materials, with the approval of Quality Assurance.
7. Collaborate across departments to identify relevant training needs.
8. Communicate clear performance standards and expectations to employees.
9. Successfully communicate with Program Coordinators, Department Supervisors, and HR to obtain/provide information, updates, ideas, and concerns about performance and to help eliminate inefficiencies.
10. Identifying and addressing performance issues by communicating clear expectations and performance problems, providing an opportunity to improve and assisting in additional training, and assisting in determining an acceptable level of performance.
11. Ensure that training material and information are updated and available at all times.
12. Act as a role model and keep all information confidential.
13. Evaluate processes and practices to ensure compliance. Immediately communicate areas of risk to the director(s) and provide recommendations for improvement.
14. Direct Support care is required.
15. Promote a positive culture throughout the organization.
16. Other duties as assigned.
